Hoping to Adopt?
You Have Options.
Adoption Is One of Them.
Personal adoption support from a licensed nonprofit adoption agency serving the entire province of Alberta.
Abide Adoption & Family Services supports expectant parents, birth parents, adoptive families, adoptees, and children through domestic adoption, international adoption, step-parent adoption, home studies, and post-adoption support. We intentionally remain a smaller agency so every person receives meaningful, individualized care.
We serve the entire province of Alberta. Abide works with individuals and families in Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Grande Prairie, Medicine Hat, Fort McMurray, rural communities, northern communities, and everywhere in between.
Our goal has never been to become the biggest adoption agency in Alberta.
Our goal has always been to build an agency where people feel known, cared for, and supported long after the legal adoption process is finished.
What Makes Abide Adoption Different?
We have structured our Alberta adoption agency. around personal relationships, dedicated advocacy, and support that continues long after the paperwork is finished.
An Intentionally Smaller Domestic Program
Abide intentionally works with approximately 30 adoptive families at a time in its domestic adoption program. This allows our team to know each family personally instead of treating people like numbers on a waiting list.
When you contact us, you are known by our team.We Know Our Waiting Families
When an expectant parent asks about an approved waiting family, we do not have to learn who they are by reading their profile. We have met them, spent time in their homes, heard their stories, and discussed parenting and adoption with them.
You receive guidance from professionals who genuinely know the families being presented.Separate, Dedicated Social Workers
Birth parents work with social workers dedicated to supporting birth parents. Adoptive families work with separate social workers dedicated to their preparation, home study, waiting, placement, and post-placement needs.
Everyone involved in adoption deserves someone focused on supporting them.Lifelong Birth Parent Support
Adoption-related grief, identity, relationships, and healing do not follow a set timeline. Abide continues to support birth parents after placement and after the legal adoption process is complete.
Our support does not end because the paperwork is finished.Abide Adoption at a Glance
Clear facts about our Alberta adoption services and the way we support people throughout the adoption journey.
Adoption Has Touched Our Lives Too
Our team understands adoption through professional experience, education, and personal connection. Members of our leadership team are adoptive parents, and our families have also been touched by adoption through the birth-family side.
That experience reminds us that every adoption story is different. We do not begin with assumptions. We begin by listening and providing honest, trauma-informed guidance based on each person's needs.
